The phrase “steeped in history” is applicable to so many places in the Hudson Valley. The many quaint towns that cover the landscape are filled with buildings that often feel as much a part of the past as of the present, evoking memories of days gone by. Like a pungent tea steeping in a pot, imparting all its flavor and character, such places are imbued with the many decades of life that have happened there.
The Old Drover’s Inn in Dover Plains, astride one of the oldest thoroughfares in Dutchess County, is just such a place.
