Tatyana Starikova is a designer and illustrator living in LaGrange, NY. Born in Ukraine, Tatyana began to draw and paint at a very young age and decided to study art, where she received a degree in fine arts and education.
Her education and career as a computer artist and graphic designer continued after moving to the United States. Tatyana worked as the in-house artist at a gift and party-goods company and then moved on to a graphic arts studio, where she began a busy freelance career.
Tatyana finds inspiration in almost anything that excites her, and she never knows where her new ideas might come from. Quiet walks in nature, listening to music, watching a movie, talking to an interesting person of any age, an unusual color combination—all of these scenarios could spark an idea for her.
Tatyana creates art in a variety of styles and themes—from whimsical art for children to florals, holidays, special occasions and more. She enjoys digital and traditional media equally and loves doodling, watercolor and making crafts.
She has always had a passion for illustration and recently discovered a new love for surface pattern design. Tatyana’s art tells a story people can appreciate through characters she designs or color and patterns. Feeling joyful and free, she tries to express these emotions in her art.
Tatyana has had the opportunity to exhibit her work at surface pattern design trade shows, such as SURTEX and Blue Print, which are held in New York City each year. This has been a great opportunity for her to showcase her new collections for the children’s market as well as for textile, home décor and paper goods.
