Last Letter to the Editor:

Hi, everyone. What a year 2020 has been. We are all dealing with so much—emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually—during this pandemic. My heart and prayers go out to each and every one of you.

With these crazy times come many decisions we are forced to make, both personally and in business. I am saddened to say that this will be my last letter, and that Organic Hudson Valley Publications, LLC is closed as well as Organic Hudson Valley magazine, unfortunately.

I have served the community and the Hudson Valley for seven years, publishing OHV and helping support the small businesses, farmers, chefs, artists and nonprofits that believe in sustainability, quality, authenticity, local, made in America and Fair Trade.

This past year I fought my biggest battle: overcoming breast cancer. When the pandemic hit, I realized that I had no more fight left in me, or at least no fight for anything else. It took months to process all my emotions and to finally accept what needed to be done, which was to close the business. I need to focus my energy on myself to continue to stay healthy.

It has been such a pleasure to produce Organic Hudson Valley and highlight all the talented, authentic, wonderful small businesses and people in our region. First, I would like to thank my husband, Andy, for all his support. It’s been a roller-coaster ride for sure, up and down, and you never stopped believing in me and OHV. I want to say thank you to my entire team and to all the advertisers and subscribers who supported OHV and its mission. I am super grateful and blessed to have had the opportunity to work with each of you. Without you, OHV wouldn’t have been possible.

This has been quite the journey, through which I have grown as a person and a businesswoman. I am especially grateful for the incredible relationships and friendships that were created along the way and that will continue to last a lifetime.

As you know, I am a positive person. I believe everything happens for a reason, and also that when one door closes, another door opens. A heavy burden was lying on my chest and that weight has been lifted. I finally feel at peace and can breathe easier, which will certainly help with my continued recovery and in going forward with my next venture.

Life is a series of chapters. My chapter of Organic Hudson Valley has closed; however, I know that my next chapter in life will be filled with something bigger and better. I trust the universe and my higher power will guide me in the right direction.

P.S. It’s funny how things work out. I received a letter in the mail from the Great Lakes Graphics Association that our printer, CPC Printing and Promotions, had submitted one of OHV’s 2019 issues for the annual Graphics Excellence Awards (GEA) printing competition, and they came out on top. What a great way for OHV to go out!
